Batch FLV Converter is a rough piece of software to help batch convert FLV files to MPEG/AVI. You can then play the downloaded video in all common media players, such as Windows Media Player.

KeepVid - want it, keep it

There are a million offers on the Internet for software to help you save, record, or rip video to your computer. Most of them cost money, and some of them bring malicious software with them. KeepVid offers a simpler solution, allowing you to download streaming video to your computer from a web page rather than using software that you must download.

The service allows you to enter the web address for videos from a long list of video sharing sites including Google, YouTube, iFilm, MySpace, Revver, and others. KeepVid also offers a bookmarklet that you can add to your browser’s toolbar to download videos while you are on video sharing sites. I did not try this and I can not vouch for the safety of installing the bookmarklet in your browser.

As with many video streaming sites today on the web, KeepVid is still inconsistent. I had to try a number of times (on a very high bandwidth connection) to download a YouTube video. The site is simple yet well-designed and has a helpful FAQ page for beginners.
